In the world of classic analog synthesizers, perhaps no other name carries as much weight as Moog. Founded by Robert Moog in the early 1960s, this company took electronic musical sound generation out of the world of pure electromagnetism (the Theremin) and knobs/patchwork (early modular synths), by generating tones using a traditional piano-style keyboard. The latest release by Moog is being hailed as a return to the company’s roots with circuits, built-in arpeggiator, spring reverb, and an overall life-force and sound that are inspired by the classic Moog modular synthesizers.

Although it requires no patchwork cables and can be played intuitively right out of the box, the Grandmother has modular capabilities with a reconfigurable front panel that can transform this instrument into an analog audio processor for the external sound sources of your choosing. Use the Grandmother’s powerful keyboard as the bedrock for and ever-expanding Mother-32, DFAM, or Eurorack modular system.
