BMW sets its sight on dethroning the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with its new facelifted 7 Series flagship sedan.

The most noticeable change to the 2020 BMW 7 Series’ front end is the massive grill that’s hard to ignore. It’s the size of a small continent, and while larger grills are favored by auto manufacturers these days as a way to strengthen their brand identity, we’re not sure whether is works with BMW’s kidney grill. Towards the backend, the new 7 Series wears a new design as well, with an obligatory light bar in the rear, which is all the craze in automotive design today.

Inside, the changes are less noticeable. The infotainment system is BMW’s latest iDrive 7.0 system that’s displayed on a 10.25-inch touchscreen in the middle, while the instrument cluster utilizes a 12.3-inch display.

Under the hood, the 2020 BMW 7 Series is propelled by a 4.4-liter V8 that produces 523-hp and 553 lb-ft of torque in the 750i xDrive and 750Li xDrive models. There’s also a plug-in hybrid 745e and a range-topping M760Li xDrive that uses a 6.6-liter V12, which can rocket the car to a blistering 3.8 seconds to 60.
