A legendary automotive designer, Battista “Pinin” Farina established the Italian coachbuilding (automotive body manufacturing) company Pininfarina in 1930. Rising to international prominence with exceptional speed, Pininfarina began constructing bodies for major car companies such as Alfa Romeo, Rolls Royce, Cadillac, and Fiat.

In the 1950s, Pinin Farina turned control of Pininfarina over to his son Sergio, a mechanical engineer who cemented Pininfarina’s reputation with exquisite body designs for exceptional cars such as the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta and the 1971 Fiat 130 Coupe.

Shortly after Sergio’s death in 2012, Pininfarina honored his memory with a prototype called the Ferrari Pininfarina Sergio. Based on the Ferrari 458 Speciale, the Ferrari company subsequently manufactured six models of the Ferrari Sergio based on this prototype. The first of these 2015 models to roll off the production line was delivered to the SBH Royal Auto Gallery in the United Arab Emirates. Of the five remaining Ferrari Sergios, three went to customers in the United States, one went to a customer in Japan, and one went to a customer in Switzerland.

It is the Ferrari Sergio that was originally delivered to that Swiss customer that is now up for public sale through the luxury online marketplace James Edition. Featuring a bright yellow frame with a dark black interior, this is certainly one of the most striking Ferraris in history. Adding to the vehicle’s exclusive status, James Edition stresses that this is the very first time that a Ferrari Sergio has come to the public market.
