2000 Lamborghini Diablo GTR

$580,000+ learn more

Lamborghini belongs in the upper echelons of Italian luxury super cars, for those whose love of speed verges on the sinful. Like it’s namesake Diablo model, the devil is truly in the details. The 2000 Lamborghini Diablo GTR offered by Sotheby’s is the 19th of only 30 GTRs ever made. A complete overhaul makes this particular model especially alluring.

This particular GTR model comes with a racing pedigree that shows right down to its bones. Even the chassis includes a completely integrated roll cage to protect the driver in case of an accident. A seemingly monstrous rear wing is bolted down into the frame, giving the vehicle an aerodynamic down force and balance required to maneuver at incredibly high speeds. The nearly entire carbon fiber body, aside from the roof and doors, provides a degree of give, while windows are made from Plexiglas to avoid smashing. Inside the interior has been stripped, much in part to provide extra weightlessness for the most dedicated racers. When combined all of these aspects make the Diablo GTR the best handling Lamborghini to date.

Along with this boastful record, the car also has a 6.0-liter, 590 hp mounted engine which breaks another Lamborghini record for the most powerful motor the manufacturer has ever produced. The engine when combined with the car’s aerodynamic body allowed it to reach a top speed of 210 miles an hour.

This Diablo just happened to race in the 2001 and 2002 seasons and then again in the 2012 and 2013 Supertrophy series with a change of bodywork color back to its original bombastic orange. Following this, each part and component on the Diablo was either completely replaced or reconditioned to nearly new before being placed back in the car.
