The Best Off-The-Beaten-Path Men’s Fragrances for Fall 2017 - IMBOLDN
Go to Top

Scent is an invisible accessory. And although there are tons of options that can accentuate your individuality, many men gravitate towards the same popular colognes. So we’ve put together a list of lesser-known men’s fragrances worth a smell, if you will. You won’t find best-selling colognes like Valentino Uomo, Paco Rabanne 1 Million, or Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb, which are probably worn by every average dude and his cousins, and all their friends. We’re not saying that they’re bad colognes. Just a bit too obvious. Do you want to be safe? Or daring?

If you said yes to safe, we recommend these popular choices: Dolce & Gabbana The One EDP, or Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de L’Homme, which are both excellent scents for the fall. However, if you said yes to daring: big props, read on.

Lalique Encre Noire

Vetiver is a grass whose roots are often utilized in perfumes for their unique scent. This fragrance from Lalique isn’t just vetiver, however. It is vetiver roots pulled straight from the earth - damp, inky, smoky, and woody, with a bit of cypress and as well as some musk. Imagine a dark and mysterious forest. A sexy one, not a creepy one. Perfect for both casual and formal occasions.

Narciso Rodriguez for him

Picture a young Michael Caine wearing a trench coat in a dreary drizzle. An homage to the 80's men's powerhouse fragrances, this scent opens with musky patchouli and gloomy violet leaf. Classically masculine but also very modern at the same time. Better for more formal occasions.

Comme des Garcons 2 Man

Comme des Garcons is one of the most unorthodox and experimental fragrance houses out there, and this is one of their classics. It's a symphony of different notes, and is spicy, floral, woody, smoky, leathery, and sweet at the same time. Although not loud, given its eccentricity, this fragrance suits more formal occasions than casual.

L’Occitane Eau de Baux

L’Occitane's Eau de Baux is a dominantly vanilla fragrance. However, unlike many vanilla fragrances, this one isn’t overwhelming or sticky. Cypress, spices, and incense add depth to what could have been a linear and boring scent. Suitable for all occasions.

That’s our list for Fall 2017. If you decide to go with one of these choices, you’re making a statement rather than being a crowd-pleaser. But don’t take our word for it! Go out and explore. Try different things. Find something that suits you best. At IMBOLDN, we value the courage to stand out and be unique. Relish in your uniqueness, and see you again in the winter.
