The creator of James Bond, Ian Lancaster Fleming has positioned cocktails as an integral part of 007’s world since the very first Bond novel, Casino Royale. With the iconic lines “shaken not stirred,” the book Diamonds Are Forever forever cemented James Bond’s affiliation with the dry vodka martini. However, Fleming has also dedicated compelling passages to alcoholic drinks that range from the daiquiri to the negroni.
The new book Shaken showcases much of Fleming’s best work on the cocktail as well as recipes to match the cocktails that he describes. Even better, these recipes come from the celebrated Soho restaurant and drinking establishment Bar Swift. Even better yet, one of Bar Swift creators, Edmund Weil, is directly related to Ian Fleming.
