The Sea Ranch Cabin by Framestudio

A restored historic home that was originally built in the 1960s, the Sea Ranch Cabin exemplifies the functionality and beauty of a small residence.

Although acclaimed architect Joseph Esherick designed countless influential buildings from the ground up, one of his most celebrated accomplishments was transforming an old San Francisco canning factory into a prominent and popular shopping complex.

It is fitting, then, that the California architecture firm Framestudio would restore and refurbish one of the stunningly economical demonstration homes that Joseph Esherick designed in the late 1960s for the Bay Area planned unincorporated community The Sea Ranch.

The Sea Ranch Cabin retains Esherick’s original 20′ x 20′ property footprint and three-story design, exemplifying just how functional, beautiful, and cost-effective a small residence can be. Recognizing the cabin’s historic significance, the Framestudio team remained true to its original rustic spirit while completing updates to meet the needs of the property’s new owners. Framestudio was fortunate enough to find old wood at the site to complete all relevant repairs and restorations.
