Sleeve House by actual / office

Composed of two elongated spaces, one resting entirely within another, notions of what it means to be “inside” and “outside” permeate Sleeve House.

Located in the borough of Brooklyn, the architectural firm actual / office certainly keeps its finger on the pulse of ultra-chic conceptual art that makes New York City the cultural mecca that it is.

Located a couple hours outside of the greater New York City area, notions of what it means to be “inside” and “outside” permeate actual / office’s Sleeve House. Aptly named, Sleeve House is composed of two elongated spaces — one resting entirely within another. Composed of spaced planks of charred wood, the larger outside sleeve allows plenty of light to enter the largely glass structure within.

Sitting on a foundation of cast-in-place concrete, the structure offers two types of inner space: the ample, elegant private rooms within the smaller structure and the high ceilinged living area with entry gallery within the larger sleeve.
