Chalet La Petite Soeur by ACDF Architecture

Located on the shores of the Lake Ouareau in Quebec, the Chalet La Petite Soeur provides everyone in the family with a peaceful corner.

An award-winning Canadian architecture firm, ACDF has deigned everything from the 30-story Panorama complex in Sainte-Dorothée to the Saint-Hyacinthe Aquatic and Recreational Centre in Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec. The firm’s latest project might be more modest in scale, but it certainly wasn’t short on ambition.

On the shores of the Lake Ouareau near the township of Saint-Donat, the Chalet La Petite Soeur has long stood amid a copse of birch trees. When the owners of this historic home (featuring an extended family of children and stepchildren) decided that they needed more space, ACDF Architecture stepped in to create a larger area with ample room to play and relax. The result of their efforts is an addition that perfectly mirrors the original building’s dimensions and pays tribute to its rugged simplicity with a thoroughly modern emphasis on clean lines and striking angles.
