Polaroid Pop Instant Digital Camera

The Polaroid Pop instant digital camera preserves the Polaroid experience for the digital age.

Much like a kite dancing in a storm of digital cameras and smartphones, Polaroid has been struggling to capture the imagination of consumers in the digital age. But looks like Polaroid may have gotten its game back with the new Polaroid Pop, an instant digital camera made to celebrate its 80th anniversary, introduced at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

The heart of the Polaroid Pop, much like most of their products from the past, is the integrated printer that gives the users the ability to automatically print full color photos in 3”x4” format, with the classic Polaroid Border Logo. The Pop isn’t just a trip down memory lane either, as it’s a full-fledged digital camera with impressive specifications. Framing and taking shots are made easy, thanks to a 3.97-inch LCD touchscreen and image stabilization, while the 20-megapixel CMOS sensor can take 1080p full-HD videos that’s stored on a micro SD card. The aforementioned printer uses ZINK’s ink-free Zero Ink printing technology, which can also be utilized by other devices using wifi or Bluetooth. While most may have been ready to push Polaroid to the sidelines of history, their latest product may be the strong comeback the brand desperately needed for the digital age.
