Volocopter 2X

The Volocopter 2X might be the world’s first electrically powered personal helicopter, and it’s not a toy. Seriously.

We know what you’re thinking, and you’re wrong.

There’s nothing inherently dangerous about an electrically powered personal helicopter, so please leave the Volocopter 2X alone. So what if your kid made a LEGO copter that was bigger and looked less like a toy? So what if the Volocopter boasts a quick-change battery and you’re thinking that it should never be that quick and easy to change the only piece of equipment that keeps your ass in the air?

This baby ‘s made the green way, clean and almost noiseless. And yes, we know you’ll have a problem with that too. “If I’m going up, I want to be deafened with the roar of rotors, eyes watering with carbon dioxide and the smell of jet fuel or whatever these things are s’posed to burn. That’s how I know it’s real.”

Pulllease…

Every safety tool is provided. Nothing could possibly go wrong. The Volocopter 2X has even got a parachute, and if anything did go wrong (which it won’t), the chute opens and sets you and your nifty personal contraption on the ground like the hand of God. So cool.

But your glass is half empty.

“My kid had an M80 looked like that,” you’ll say. “Last Fourth of July? We shot that thing in the air and the chute opened and it drifted to earth, its rotors shooting sparks. Dangerous as fuck. Nearly put the kid’s eye out. But the point is, it was a toy! You think I’m gonna thumb my nose at gravity in something so light a damn parachute brings it down like some Flintstones/Jetsons cartoon?”

Some people, there’s just no reasoning with.
