2018 BMW 4-Series

Why mess with a good thing? BMW gives the 4-Series lineup a very subtle refresh.

Although technically a separate vehicle under a recently revamped numeric nomenclature system, the BMW 3-Series and 4-Series — formerly known as the 3-Series Coupe — are cut from the same cloth. So it was a bit of a mystery for BMW fans that it has taken close to two years for the mid-cycle facelift of the 3-Series to trickle down to the 4-Series, but BMW has finally taken the veils off of their new 2018 4-Series.

Looks like BMW didn’t want mess with a good thing, as the updates are very subtle. Rightfully so, as the current 3-Series and 4-Series family still looks relatively fresh and has aged nicely over the years. Subtle differences on the exterior include new headlight and taillight graphics, slightly tweaked front and rear bumpers, new 18 and 19-inch wheels, and two new colors on offer — Snapper Rocks Blue and Sunset Orange. Inside, the changes are also minute with a new steering wheel, aluminum and chrome detailing, and new interior colors. What’s more significant is the new infotainment system and digital gauges called the Multifunctional Instrument Display (MID) that allows the driver to customize the information that’s presented to him.

The updates will be seen on the two door coupes, five door Gran Coupe models, convertible versions, as well as the M4 models, and will arrive in showrooms this year as 2018 models.
