1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster

The FIA GT championship regulation states that participating cars should be based on street cars that have been produced in a minimum quantity of 25 examples. Hence, ambitious carmakers started building “homologation specials,” racing-bred cars that were built in small quantities just to comply with the entry requirement. That’s how 26 units of the CLK-GTRs were born (only 6 of them were roadsters), and this one-out-of-six 1999 CLK-GTR Roadster is expected to be auctioned away on June 26 by Bonhams.

Under the hood, you’ll find a 6.9-litre AMG V12 engine, which produces 604-horses and 775 nm of torque, capable of accelerating the chassis from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

Pre-auction estimates range somewhere from £1.4 to £1.8 million, but with less than 6 km registered on the clock, this brand “new” stingray of a car will undoubtedly spark a heated bidding war.
