New York City Wine and Food Festival

October 13 – 16

뉴욕 시 와인&푸드 페스티벌은 전 세계의 가장 유명한 와인과 스프리치 제조사, 셰프, 요리계 셀럽, 그리고 미국에서 가장 사랑받는 스타 셰프들이 한자리에 모여 기아에 맞서 싸우기 위해 자신들의 능력을 맘껏 발휘하는 자리다. 이 행사는 4일간 진행되며 수많은 유명 연예인들이 참석하여 자리를 빛낸다. 100개 이상의 행사가 주최되는 뉴욕 시에서 가장 규모가 큰 와인&푸드 페스티벌로 여겨지는 이 행사는 미국인이 가장 사랑하는 음식 테이스팅, 세계적인 셰프들과의 분위기 있는 저녁식사, 심야 파티, 실습수업, 교육 세미나, 그리고 와인 테이스팅으로 유명하다. 이번 해에는 55,000명의 대식가와 미식가들과 함께 Dominique Ansel, Rick Bayless, David Burke 등이 제공하는 세계적인 요리, 와인과 스프리츠를 즐기길 바란다.

Fantasy Fest

Oct 21 – 30, 2016: Key West, Florida

매해 열리는 쾌락주의가 난무하는 이 낙원 속 파티는 1979년 키 웨스트 주민들이 모여 섬에 관광객들 유치 목적으로 시작되었다. 그 후 매년 판타지 페스트는 규모가 점점 더 커져 미국에서 가장 와일드한 파티로 자리 잡았다. 벌레스크쇼, 하와이식 파티, 코스프레 경연, 바디페인팅, 그리고 직접 만든 비키니 경연대회를 기대하라.

Bridge Day

October 15: Fayette County, West Virginia

심약한 사람들은 가라! 브리지 데이는 세계에서 가장 큰 규모의 익스트림 스포츠 행사이다. 매 10월 셋째 주 토요일에 수백 명의 베이스 점퍼와 80,000명 가까이 되는 관중들이 New River Gorge 다리에 모여 6시간 동안 876피트 높이의 다리에서 숙달된 베이스 점퍼들이 3-4초가량 자유 낙하 한 뒤 낙하산을 펼쳐서 낙하 지점으로 날아가는 모습을 볼 수 있다.

La Calaca

October 30 – November 2: San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

할로윈 전날에 시작하는 라 칼라카는 사람들의 참여를 유도하는 미술 페스티벌로 설치 미술품, 지역 사업, 미술 단체, 그리고 멕시코의 명절인 ‘죽음의 날(Day of the Dead)’에서 영감을 받은 미술을 경험하기 위해 전 세계에서 찾아온 방문객들이 모일 수 있는 자리를 만든다. 페스티벌 기간 동안에는 도시 곳곳 다양한 장소에서 행사가 열려 라이브 설치 미술, 크리에이테브 워크숍, 그리고 묘지와 제단 관광 등을 통해 방문객들을 문화 활동에 빠지게 한다. 야간에는 동틀 녘까지 진행되는 코스프레 행진, 음악 공연, 그리고 파티가 있기 때문에 페이스 조절을 확실히 해야 한다.

The Village Halloween Parade

October 31: New York City

Fantasy Fest

This annual hedonism-filled party in paradise was started in 1979 by a group of Key West locals as a way to bring visitors to the island. Each year since then, Fantasy Fest has grown larger and larger and has become one of the wildest parties in the US. Prepare for burlesque shows, luaus, costume competitions, body painting, and homemade bikini contests.

Bridge Day

October 15: Fayette County, West Virginia

Not for the faint of heart, Bridge Day is the largest extreme sports event in the world. On the third Saturday of each October, hundreds of BASE jumpers and nearly 80,000 spectators flock to New River Gorge Bridge. For six hours, the bridge, which stands at 876′ tall, serves as the launching point for experienced BASE jumpers who will free fall for 3 to 4 seconds before deploying their parachutes and floating to the landing zone.

La Calaca

October 30 – November 2: San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Beginning the day before Halloween, La Calaca is an interactive arts festival that brings together art installations, local businesses and arts organizations, and visitors from around the world to experience art and creativity inspired by Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). During the days, events take place at multiple venues throughout the city and immerse participants in cultural activities, such as live art installations, creative workshops, and tours of cemeteries and traditional altars. The evenings feature costumed processions, musical performances, and parties that last until sunrise, so remember to pace yourself.

The Village Halloween Parade

Each year on October 31, over 2 million people gather in downtown New York City to join in the fun of the Village Halloween Parade. The magic of Halloween tends to get lost as we grow up and (most of us) stop trick-or-treating, but those feelings of giddiness will come rushing right back as you join the throngs of costumed masses out to celebrate the spookiest night of the year.
